Home Look: The Holidays – 2024
Doug Rhinehart 06/31/20 DIYIt’s the festive season again. Whether your decorations are timeless and traditional or unapologetic kitschy, there’s something magical about decking the halls this time of year. Take a peek inside this playful Dayton house with us for a look at some of our favorite decor and gifts from our 2024 Holiday Collection.
Welcome In
The front porch can set the tone for the entirety of your seasonal decor — give guests a little taste of what’s to come. The ornament-laden Weeping Norway Spruce on this porch will find a home in the front garden once the holidays are past.
Setting the Table
Don’t forget: it’s your house and you’re entitled to decorate your table with whatever makes you holly-and-jolly this season. If that means mixing gold Nordic-inspired tree luminaries with retro-style Christmas tree candles, go wild!
Why Stop With the Living Room?
Garland doesn’t have to be contained to the spaces that only guests see. There’s something wonderful about bringing holiday decor into the less expected parts of the home. Take this bedroom for example — the evergreen boughs and cloth ornaments accent the existing decor and lend a softness and whimsy to the space.
Go a Little Wild
For example: we’re a little wild for these mushroom ornaments and table-toppers. They’re an unexpected and playful addition to the holiday decorations. And they can live on in the decor of the home even after the holidays have passed.
Bringing the Garden Inside
One of the best ways to get through the grey days of winter is by bringing a little green into our homes. This little laundry-bench-turned-garden-bench is always filled with plant projects. Keep some propagations going to gift to friends, plant some winter bulbs for holiday blooms (like the amaryllis and narcissus below), or play with new houseplant varieties.
The Heart of the Home
The holidays are one of the most festive times of the year. But you don’t have to redo your entire decor to bring in little magic! Try concentrating your decorations into a few key spaces to make a big visual impact — think, near the mantel or in a prominent spot in the den. A little garland and some bunting can go a long way in making the house feel festive. Use a throw blanket or tapered candles in the color of your tree’s theme to help tie the room together!
Whatever your style, we hope you’ll make Grandma’s Gardens a part of your holiday traditions. After all, who knows the holidays better than Grandma?
